VPL in the Netherlands, with
a focus on voluntary work
Lately there has been increased attention for the accreditation or valuation
of prior, i.e. non-formal and informal, learning in The Netherlands. During
the 1990’s the first national policy outlines were presented, following from
the attention that was already given to the concept of lifelong learning.
Nowadays, several branches and companies have started initiatives in the
field of validation of non-formal and informal learning. [read more]

Who is a voluntary:
Person who dedicate part of his time to a solidarity action, usually,
without payment. Most of the activities done by the volunteers have as aim
to stop and prevent social wrong situations. [read more]
The civil service in Italy. A glance to the non-formal education.
The n. 64 law issued the 6th of March 2001 enlarged the voluntary civil
service to the girls aging between eighteen and twenty-eight years old as
well as the the boys of the same age limits, who are not capable of military
service. The law of 2001 regarding the implementation of the national civil
service considers, among the other goals, to defend the Country through
means different from those military, to promote the solidarity and
cooperation at national and also international level, to tutor the country
cultural heritage (such as environment, art, culture, civil protection) and
civil education (education for all, social cultural and professional for the

Civil service in East European Countries
This report is an output by the first phase of the Leonardo da Vinci project
“Civil Service Apprenticeship” and responds to the first action tasks:
analysis of experience of non-formal learning in the countries from East
Europe – Bulgaria, Romania – preaccsesion countries, Latvia and Poland – new
member states.
There were presented 8 cases as follows; Bulgaria -3; Romania - 2; Latvia –
2 and Poland – 1.
The experience described covered the next sectors: redundant military
servicemen, unemployment young people up to 29 years old, SMEs and SMEs
managers, European Apprenticeship for students.
In the countries from east Europe still not exists system for CSA. The
existing legislation documents provided for the moment good basis for
development and implementation of different European Union programme as
instrument for CSA. [read more]

The project Civil service
apprentiship aims four transnational meeting.
The first meeting has been organized in Roma in November. In June to Utrecht
was placed the second. During the second meeting the partners present the

The civil service ban in Italy
It has been published the second ban 2005,
it was for 36,085 volunteers to employ in plans of civil service in Italy
and to the foreign country, within the law 6 March 2001, n. 64.
With this Ban the phase of experimentation of the new civil service reached
an conclusion and begin a civil service that direct one’s effort towards the
quality and the planning capability of the accredited Agencies. [read more]
